About

ABOUT SOPHIE

Sophie is a LEED AP  (ID+C) pursuing a Master of Science in Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors and holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design, accompanied by a minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and a certificate in Historic Preservation. Her design philosophy centers on using interiors as a catalyst for positive change, with a focus on both environmental responsibility and social impact.

As a Gaines Fellow in the Humanities, Sophie approaches design through a human-centered, holistic lens – valuing context, community, and culture in every space she creates. Her professional experience spans multiple sectors, including hospitality, workplace, and healthcare. In particular, her work designing hospitals and clinics in Eastern Kentucky emphasized the importance of tailoring environments to the needs of individuals and communities, reinforcing her belief in regionally responsive and inclusive design.

Sophie’s passion for design extends into education. During her graduate studies at the University of Georgia, she serves as a teaching assistant for multiple interior design studio courses, providing instruction in AutoCAD and Revit. She is committed to both practice and pedagogy, aiming to inspire future designers to approach their work with intention, empathy, and a commitment to sustainability.
